What exactly is the Wine Train?
The Napa Valley Wine Train route follows a restored rail line from McKinstry Street Station in Napa County up to St. Helena, gliding past beautiful vineyards and landmarks along the Silverado Trail.
Expect Honduran mahogany paneling, polished brass accents, etched glass partitions, plush armchairs, and large windows for photography. It feels like a vintage film set, but with a modern kitchen seamlessly serving seasonal course meals using local ingredients.
Napa Valley Wine Train Cars and Seating: Pick your ambiance
There are a few different Wine Train cars and experiences to choose from. We had the Vista Dome lunch, which I loved and would HIGHLY recommend.
It was magical whizzing by the vineyards with excellent views, delicious food and such a romantic atmosphere. The Vista Dome car offers amazing views as there is more glass. All cars look beautiful and feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

As I mentioned above, this carriage has glass-topped seating with the best views. The daylight Vista Dome lunch maximizes scenery. The evening service looks like a movie! The Pullman cars have classic booths and armchairs, rich wood, and etched glass. There are lots of options for gourmet meals in this dining car. - Open-air car
Step out for valley-breeze photos as you roll past Napa Valley’s most famous wineries. This is extra pretty at golden hour on the return. - Chandon Spritz Carriage

Expect polished service and seasonal menus aboard the wine train. Every course was delicious, so well prepared and paced perfectly. Think seared local fish, braised short ribs, or a vegetarian main, followed by indulgent desserts. There were 4 courses on our menu with lots of choice.
