During my summer trip to Ireland, I spent 4 wonderful nights relaxing at the beautiful Park Hotel Kenmare.
In this Park Hotel Kenmare review, you’ll find a glowing review of this luxury Kenmare hotel. Everything was perfect including our visits to Sámas Spa, our luxury bedroom, delicious meals, fantastic staff, and more.
Park Hotel Kenmare Review
Before we get into all the details of my Park Hotel Kenmare Review, I want to give you a quick overview of this historic hotel. This destination hotel has the most idyllic setting with sweeping views of Kenmare Bay and the Kerry mountains. It’s a heavenly spot for switching off and enjoying the beauty of Kerry.
This luxury hotel marries history and luxury perfectly. The drawing room, open fires, nightly pianist, doormen, and beautiful stone walls showcase the history and charm of the old world. The hotel is a haven for luxury lovers with every little detail thought of.
Just steps away from the town of Kenmare in County Kerry, the hotel is the perfect spot for balancing relaxing and exploring. Step out the gate of the hotel and you are right in the heart of Kenmare. There are lots of pretty boutiques, stunning galleries, delicious restaurants, traditional craft stores, and quaint pubs for you to explore. The best part? All just a 2-minute walk from the hotel entrance.
The Park Kenmare was recently purchased by Brian and Tara Meehan, who are adding a new lease of life to the hotel, including the colorful artwork showcased throughout the hotel. If you are lucky enough, you’ll have the opportunity to hear all about the artwork on one of the evening art tours at 5 pm.
The Rooms at the Park Hotel Kenmare
Guests have been enjoying relaxing escapes at the Park Hotel Kenmare since 1897. The 46 rooms at the Park Hotel Kenmare are individually furnished with carefully sourced antique furniture. The guest rooms boast timeless elegance with plush bathrobes, rich fabrics, beautiful art, and unique antiques. You’ll also find modern touches such as flat-screen TVs, delicious Blue Bottle coffee, and a tablet to view the day’s activities.
There are three types of rooms to choose from; superior rooms, deluxe rooms, and suites. Regardless of which room you choose, a relaxing stay awaits at this beautiful hotel.
Our room had beautiful garden views of the main garden and Kenmare Bay, a relaxing sitting room, and a beautiful bathroom with a large walk-in shower. As a beauty lover, I loved the Bamford toiletries in the bathroom. The rooms were silent and only the birds outside could be heard chirping in the mornings.
There are various offers on the website including 3 for 2 offers, spa bundles and more. For the most up-to-date room rates and special offers, visit the Park Hotel Kenmare.
Breakfast at the Park Hotel Kenmare
Landline is the main restaurant at Park Hotel Kenmare. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and dinners at the restaurant.
The name Landline is derived from a beautiful painting in the restaurant called Landline Edge by Sean Scully. The restaurant was revamped in recent years by local Kenmare-born Interior Designer, Bryan O’ Sullivan. The furniture in the dining area is beautiful and carefully appointed. The comfy pink seating was my favorite alongside the food, which was incredibly tasty and delicious.
The menus at Landline are created using ingredients that are fresh, seasonal, and from local producers. The views from Landline are stunning. The restaurant looks out upon Kenmare Bay and the Caha Mountains.
Breakfast at the Park Hotel Kenmare was delicious with baskets of fresh scones and brown bread brought to the table with tea and coffee of your choice. The hotel offers a generous menu and includes everything from a full Irish breakfast to pancakes and oatmeal. A delicious spread is served alongside stunning views every morning. The perfect way to start a relaxing day.
Dinner at the Park Hotel Kenmare
Dinner at the Park Hotel Kenmare is also served at the Landline restaurant. Seasonal dinner is served daily from 6.30 pm until 9.00 pm. We enjoyed delicious fresh fish on both nights that we dined there. The service at Landline was amazing. The waiters were so polite, attentive, and kind. Truly a wonderful experience.
The town of Kenmare is just a 2-minute walk from the hotel with lots of options for delicious dining when you fancy exploring on one of the nights of your stay. The hotel offers 24-hour room service in case you get very cozy in your room. Lunch can be enjoyed in the Garden rooms or on the Terrace with breathtaking views of the bay.
Sámas Spa at the Park Hotel Kenmare
Sámas Spa at the Park Hotel is fabulous and worth penciling in. If you are a regular reader, then you know that one of my (expensive) hobbies is enjoying some pampering at 5-star spas.
When I looked up the beautiful Park Hotel Kenmare, one of the major features of the hotel was the award-winning spa. It’s been named a destination spa for a reason. The spa is so luxurious and a heavenly place to spend the morning or afternoon.
Sámas Spa at the Park Hotel Kenmare has everything you need. One of the highly recommended experiences is the ”Sámas experience” where you’ll spend the first hour enjoying the stunning thermal suites. There are separate male and female suites with a sauna, aroma steam rooms, an ice fountain, tropical rain showers, and a shared gender outdoor heated vitality pool. The infinity pool has stunning views of Kenmare Bay and is secluded by trees and greenery. It’s one of the most beautiful pools with a view I’ve enjoyed in Ireland.
For the second hour of the “Sámas experience”, you’ll enjoy one of eight “Essence of SÁMAS” Body Treatments and Bamford Facials.
For the third hour, you’ll enjoy some time in the Relaxation Room with refreshments and picturesque views of stunning Kerry. The day beds were hand-crafted from ash that grew on the spa grounds. After that, you can either float from the spa or enjoy a swim in the luxurious lap pool.
The spa is open on a daily basis to both residents and day guests. The spa also offers classes, including yoga and meditation. A true escape into a haven of nature, luxury, and wellness.
Activities and Amenities at the Park Hotel Kenmare
A daily lifestyle program is offered to all guests which includes lots of rotating activities. During our stay, there were activities to keep you busy throughout the day including garden walks, yoga classes, and meditation.
Tea and delicious cake were served at 4 pm in the Drawing Room. We enjoyed this one day while basking in the sun. The cake was made by the new owners’ daughter, Eve. She made all of the desserts and bread we enjoyed while at the hotel. An incredibly talented and sweet chef.
Afternoon tea is served in the luxurious surroundings of The Terrace and Outdoor Terrace, which overlook the gardens. You’ll be treated to delicious pastries, scones, fruity homemade jams, sandwiches, and a selection of tea.
The Park Hotel Kenmare has everything you need onsite including free parking, free wi-fi, complimentary bikes, a tennis court, the beautiful spa mentioned above, a lap pool, and more. Strolling through the well-maintained gardens or meandering through the trails that surround the 5-star Kerry hotel is the perfect way to spend the morning after tucking into breakfast. For golf lovers, there is an 18-hole golf course nearby.
There is also a private cinema which shows classic films nightly at 9pm. A well-stocked bar and an extensive wine list is at hand so you can relax with a drink by the fire after your day.
Because there is truly so much to enjoy at this luxury Kerry hotel, I recommend pausing on long days of travel adventures during your stay. The hotel is perfect for marking special occasions or enjoying some much-needed downtime in our busy world. The Park Kenmare is truly a special place to unwind and relax whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery and as many or as little activities as you wish.
Things to do near the Park Hotel Kenmare
Kerry is a stunning part of Ireland that is a must-see on your Ireland adventures. There are so many beautiful sites and adventures right by the Park Hotel Kenmare. One of my favorites is the Ring of Kerry.
The Ring of Kerry is one of the most famous parts of the Wild Atlantic Way. I was about 12 when my family and I first ventured to Kerry and explored the Ring of Kerry. The views are breathtaking.
The Ring of Kerry is a circular 179-kilometer scenic drive that takes in some of Ireland’s most breathtaking landscapes, including rugged coastlines, emerald-green mountains, and picturesque villages. This scenic route is a must when you are in Kerry.
Both Kenmare (2-minute walk) and Killarney (30-minute drive) are two must-see towns nearby. Read all about my favorite things to do in Killarney. Muckross House and Killarney National Park are another two must sees. Live music at one of the pubs is also essential!

My Final Thoughts: Park Hotel Kenmare Review
As you can see, this is a glowing Park Hotel Kenmare review. I checked in a little tired and all ready to relax. I checked out restored and rejuvenated. Park Hotel Kenmare is the perfect 5-star hotel for switching off while enjoying delicious food, amazing service, stunning rooms, luxury spa treatments, and more. I highly recommend booking a stay at the Park Hotel Kenmare.
There were so many special touches throughout our stay such as a nightly turn-down service, someone cleaning our car windows so we could see the views of Kerry much better, and having perfect riding boots for me to borrow for some horse riding by the Bay.
I was pleasantly surprised multiple days by the staff who went above and beyond. The attention to detail, warm welcomes, and thoughtfulness stood out throughout my stay. Long before our beautiful relaxing trip had come to an end, I knew I’d be back for another relaxing retreat.
I am excited about the future of the Park Hotel Kenmare. It’s in the hands of a very talented and successful, Irish businessman and his talented wife. Any locals and workers that I spoke with raved about the changes and excitement for a new era for this 5-star haven. Plan your own luxury Kerry getaway here.
A huge thank you to the new owners, Brian and Tara Meehan, for the wonderful hospitality and for hosting us.
