Every once in a while, you find a brand you really love because of the quality of the products and also because of the ethos of the brand. Earlier in 2022, I started using products from the sustainable & minimalist skincare brand JUNOCO (which are amazing as you’ll see in my JUNOCO review).
Since using JUNOCO skincare products, I have found out more about the California skincare brand. Most recently, I went to a JUNOCO event in San Francisco where they spread the news about their #ToBeHuman campaign, which could not come at a better time.
JUNOCO is a sustainable skincare and beauty brand based in California with a mission to lead change towards a more sustainable future in beauty. It’s JUNOCO’s mission to move away from the traditional beauty market, which relies on standard mass-produced and mass-consumed packaging, to simplified and intuitively sustainable products and formulas. As you will read below, through the #ToBeHuman campaign, JUNOCO wants to challenge the status quo when it comes to “beauty”.
What does it mean #ToBeHuman?
As we all know, photographs on Instagram, in magazines and on brochures are mostly highly edited, with teams behind each image to capture perfection. This is not a realistic ideal for us and often leaves both you and I feeling deflated when our skin doesn’t look like the perfection advertised to us. JUNOCO’s goal of the #ToBeHuman campaign is to move past what society has deemed as our “flaws” and lead the conversation towards the honest and realness of self-acceptance through positive influence and energy.
The #ToBeHuman campaign is how JUNOCO is taking part in a revolution towards a better future for beauty and creating a new beauty industry that is more accepting, kind, and inclusive. JUNOCO’s #ToBeHuman skin positivity campaign is just what the beauty industry needs.
One of my favorite parts about the JUNOCO #ToBeHuman campaign is how JUNOCO captured the photos for this much needed skin positivity campaign. Professional models were not used for the photoshoot – instead JUNOCO invited a diverse community of skin-positive thought leaders. Each had different skin tones, backgrounds, and personalities. JUNOCO’s mission was to shine a light on real people as models for the campaign.
There were also no professional lighting technicians or stylists. Real people with real skin featured. The models were asked to use the JUNOCO cleansing balm for a month before the photo shoot and on the day of. As you see from the campaign images below, these are real people with real skin. The #ToBeHuman campaign celebrates and represents an array of skin tones, textures, shapes, and sizes, pushing the community to re-think what beauty really looks like.
The JUNOCO #ToBeHuman San Francisco Street Takeover
Over 300 people attended the event in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley. I was lucky to attend the fun event and speak to Kyle Jiang, the founder of JUNOCO, about what is to come for the clean, skin care brand. Watch this space as the brand have so much in store for the future 🙂
JUNOCO chose San Francisco as the location for the first street takeover as the JUNOCO HQ is based in San Francisco. San Francisco has a history of being at the forefront of inclusivity and sustainability.
At the event, attendees were asked, “What’s one of your insecurities that you’re most proud of? And “What would you like deemed as “normal” that is not so “normal” at the moment in the beauty world?” Attendees wrote everything from acne, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.
My personal skin care concern is dry skin. Sometimes, my skin will get extra dry from my travels or forgetting to get my 2L of water in per day. Ironically, both JUNOCO skincare products that I talk about below, have been helping me out with my dry skin.
The aim of JUNOCO’s event was to begin the skin positivity movement of celebrating real people, real skin and real bodies. Our own uniqueness should always be something we hold as special, whether that is acne, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, dry skin or any other skin care concern.
The JUNOCO #ToBeHuman campaign kicked off in a fun way with so many people joining the event in San Francisco and really embracing their real, natural skin. I am so excited to hear more about this campaign and support this positive skin care movement. This takeover is only the start of bigger things to come from JUNOCO!
JUNOCO skincare products and an honest JUNOCO Review
As you can see above, I was so excited to attend the event and learn more about JUNOCO as I have been loving the 2 JUNOCO skin care products that I have been using.
JUNOCO formulate their ingredients with the intention to be kind to the planet and to inspire inclusivity and acceptance for everyone. I have been using two JUNOCO products for months now – a 10 ingredient cleansing balm (JUNOCO CLEAN 10) and an upcycled clarifying powder.
You can read my full review of JUNOCO Clean 10 Cleansing Balm here. In short, JUNOCO Clean 10 Cleansing Balm is a high quality cleansing balm that is made with 10 ingredients and suitable for all skin types. JUNOCO cleansing balm has become one of my favorite cleansing balms and it is perfect for those who want quality clean skin care without breaking the bank.
As an extra treat, use my JUNOCO discount code LORNA10 to get 10% off your purchase.
The other JUNOCO skin care product that I have been loving is the JUNOCO Clarifying Cleansing Powder. I use this product about twice per week for a deeper cleanse. I’ve been traveling for the last 7 weeks and this has been amazing to remove dead skin cells and sunscreen build up after a long day in the sun.
JUNOCO Clarifying Cleansing Powder takes a minute to use and the results are truly worth it.
As you can see, I am a huge JUNOCO skin care fan, let me know if you have any questions about the brand or the #ToBeHuman positive skin campaign.
Thank you to JUNOCO for sponsoring this blog post.
